Carol Osburn Rhoads, 86, beloved mother, grandmother and GiGi, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel, Terry Casey, D.Min., presiding. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: Donations may be made in her memory to the American Diabetic Association or a charity of choice.
Carol was born March 24, 1925, in Fairbanks, Ind., the only surviving child of Lotta Mae and Garrett Osburn. She and her husband, William, and their children were a military family and traveled extensively but finally settled in Fort Worth in 1968, opening Rhoads Insurance Agency in River Oaks, which has been run as a family business for 42 years. She was a devoted and active member of West Freeway Church of Christ. She will be forever missed but will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Carol was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and loving husband of 44 years, William Rhoads, in 1988; and beloved granddaughter, Terri, in 1985.
Survivors: Sons, Larry Rhoads and wife, Sherry, of Fort Worth and Ron Rhoads and wife, Kim, of Weatherford; grandchildren, Troy Rhoads and wife, Peggy, Raney Ray and husband, BJ, and Nicki Northcutt and husband, Danny; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other dear family and friends.
