Stephen James Warren was born on October 13, 1837 in __________, Kentucky, the son of Joseph Warren and Nancy (__________) Warren. Just before the 1850 census was taken, Joseph and Nancy brought their family to Illinois, where they initially settled in Peoria, Illinois.

James was married to Ann Aukland on June 7, 1860 in Marshall County, Illinois. Ann was born on December 7, 1847 in Lincolnshire, England, the daughter of William Aukland and Elizabeth (Jordon) Aukland. William and Elizabeth were both born in England.

Nine children are believed to have been born to James and Ann. They are;
1. Elizabeth W Warren, born __________ __, 1862 in Illinois; married to __________ Graybill; Elizabeth died on __________ __, 1____ at ___________, __________.
2. John Wesley Warren, born Oct 5, 1866 in Marshall Co, Illinois; died April 11, 1909 in Canon City, Freemont Co, Colorado. His wife, Zennetta (Nettie) took his body and the four children back to Hopkins. John was a miner near Victor, Colorado; John died from pneumonia; buried in the Hopkins Cemetery.
3. Lavinia A Warren, born __________ __, 1869 in Illinois; married to John Anderson; Lavinia died on __________ __, 1____ at __________, __________.
4. Luellen Warren, born 1872 in Iowa; died on __________ __, 19____ (after 1910) at __________, __________.

James and Ann moved to Hopkins, Missouri in Nodaway County about 1885/86. They remained there the rest of their lives. James farmed all of his life.
James was granted an Invalid Pension on August 5, 1890 and this was increased on March 27, 1908. In 1910, James and Ann celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a large family gathering and a portrait was made of the entire family as it existed at that time. Stephen James Warren died on December 15, 1912 in Hopkins, Misouri. Ann was granted a Widow's Pension for her husbands service on December 30, 1912. Ann (Aukland) Warren died on February 4, 1920 in Hopkins. Their earthly remains were laid to rest in the Hopkins Cemetery in Hopkins, Missouri.
