Barbara Jeanne Darr Young passed away quietly as she slept in the early morning of May 17, 2011. She has taken her seat at the side of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ms. Young was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on December 11, 1929. She attended Classen High School, where she participated in dance and softball, and she was a member of the Class of 1947. After graduation, she attended Oklahoma A&M, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics - Interior Design. In her later years she returned to the classroom to further her education and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration - Accounting from Central State University [now named the University of Central Oklahoma]. She worked for several companies in the Oklahoma City area and in 2003 retired from the accounting department at KFOR-TV-DT.

Ms. Young celebrated life and tried to bring joy and happiness to all those she touched. Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, sewing and embroidery, playing bridge and attending Oklahoma State sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her mother Louise Keith Darr and father Charles Boyd Darr, sister, Marjory Darr, brother, Charles Boyd Darr II, and her husband Ronald Carl Young.

She is survived by her sister Carolyn Sue Nichols and er husband Harry of Houston TX; sons Ronald Carl Young, Jr., Larry Keith Young of Laguna Niguel CA, Edward Lee Young and wife Melinda, and Phillip Bell Young; grandchildren James Arthur Young and wife Heather of Plano TX, Cassidy Elizabeth Young, and Austin Gregory Young; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone for their friendship, kindness and generosity in celebrating the life of this loving and caring woman.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday May 19, 2011. Ms. Young will be laid to rest at a private graveside service for the family at Rose Hill Cemetery on Friday May 20, 2011. A memorial service for family and friends will be held Friday May 20, 2011, at 1:00 pm at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N. Portland in Oklahoma City OK.
