Daughter to Eugenio Cambaceres. Her burial place is a grave visited by all in guided visits within the Recoleta Cemetery.Daughter of writer Eugenio Cambeceres. Rufina suffered from seizures and entered a cataleptic state on the night of her 19th birthday. Presumed dead, she was interred in a lavish boveda (crypt) in Recoleta. Two versions of how she was buried alive exist, but in the end she was found dead of asphyxiation having blooded her fingers desperately attempting to release herself from her coffin. Her mother, who always tried to hide her daughter's illness, was the mistress of future President Irigoyen with whom she slept the night of Rifina's death, possibly causing the lovers to be too hasty in their effort to dispose of Rufina's body. Several versions of the story are online in both Spanish and English. One with photos in daytime and of elaborate coffin is at http://www.buenosaireslocaltours.com/2011/02/28/rufina-cambaceres/
