Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the West Side District Cemetery for Taft resident Verdie L. Saffle, 101. The Rev. Bart Hughes and the Rev. Bart Hughes and the Rev. Ken Noel will officiate at the services. Mrs. Saffle was born Oct. 22, 1893 in Lebonon, Mo., and passed away May 5 at Regency I of West Side District Hospital. She moved to Oklahoma where she married Roy Saffle and had 10 children. In 1953, Mrs. Saffle left Oklahoma to move to Bakersfield where she lived 28 years. She then moved to Taft. Her favorite thing to do in life was to go to church and go to Jo’s Restaurant to eat breakfast, have pumpkin pie and hot coffee. She may be remembered for her bright colored hat, gloves and white cane she had to use. Mrs. Saffle is survived by eight children and over 70 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
