Born in Telford, he was the son of the late Willis Y. and Sadie F. (Keller) Alderfer. A resident of Vernfield for many years, he moved to his current address in Souderton in 1966.
He and his wife, Elizabeth P. (Cassel) Alderfer, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August.
During the 1940s and '50s, he was employed as a truck driver for the former Farm Bureau of Souderton and the former Harris Gramm Construction Co.
In 1962 he was employed by Hatfield Township, where he worked for 25 years and retired as superintendent of road maintenance in March 1987.
He was a member of Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, Vernfield.
In addition to his wife he was survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Ann, wife of Robert W. Renner of Souderton, Wilma A., wife of Ralph D. Freed of Salford, and Christa H. Delikat of Telford; two sons: Brooke C. of Harleysville and G. Edward of Hatfield; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Rena, wife of Richard Masel of Sellersville, and Betty F. Landis of Earlington; and three brothers, Claude K. of Telford, and John K. and Vernon K., both of Lansdale.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a brother, Richard K.
