His obituary, pubished in the New York Times, on November 23, 1955, Reads as follow:

Walter Bredin - A Picture Editor - Head of News Assignments for Hearst Metrotone Dies - Led Television Unit - Walter Bredin, news editor for Hearst Metrotone News, died yesterday morning at Queens General Hospital, Jamaica, Queens. He was fifty-nine years old and had been with the Hearst Organization for forty-five years. His residence was at 83-44 Lefferts Boulevard, Kew Gardens, Queens, NY.

Starting as an office boy for the Hearst-owned International News Service in 1910, Mr. Bredin, in 1914 joined the International News Reel Corporation, which later became Hearst Metrotone News. As a news editor, he had supervised movie-camera assignments of the staff through-out the country, and had often organized newsreel coverage of foreign assignments.

The burning of the Zeppelin Hindenburg, and the fire on the liner Normandie were among the many spectacular news events for which he directed assignments. During the last two years he also had charge of television film assignments for Telenews Film Service. He also organizaed assignments for the recent Geneva Conference.

His widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Bredin; two daughters, Misses Barbara and Betty Bredin; three sisters and two brothers survive.
