Stuart Daniels
Dies Result Of
Tractor Accident
Stuart Daniels, 38, a well known farmer of this community, was killed in a tractor accident which happened at his farm, 4 miles southwest of Moulton, Wednesday night at about 10:00 p.m, Mr. Daniels had gone to a dike along the Chariton River, to pull out a pickup which was stuck. After the pickup was pulled out, he decided that
while he was there he mow some weeds along the dike, A little later, Mrs. Daniels saw the tractor lights in a peculiar, position and called the Darrell Harris home. Darrell investigated .. and found Stuart pinned beneath the heavy tractor.
It is thought that he had gotten too closi to the edge of the dike and the tractor slipped over the "edge' with its full force landing on the victim of the tragic accident. It is surmised that he might-have been instantly kilted as his neck was broken. However, the Duley ambulance
was called and he was taken to the. St. Joseph Hospital in Centerville where he was found to be dead on arrival.
Stuart was well known in this community where he graduated
from the local school and later farmed his own land as well as some for his father. In later years he served as a member of the Appanoose County Soil Conservation Committee for a time. He was also quite active in watershed control groups.
He was the son of Ward and Etha Hurd Daniels and was
born December 11, 1932. On June 12, 1953, he was married
to Dorla Piatt of Moulton and to this union two children were born; Sonja, age 14, and Ron, 9.
Left to mourn his passing, besides his wife and children, are his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Smith of Bloomfield, and Mrs. Barbara Payne of Milton, Pla.; a brother, Robert Daniels of Milton, Fla., besides a wide circle of friends and other, relatives.
Services were held at the United Methodist Church in
Moulton, Saturday, conducted by Rev. Laurence Hawes. Burial
was in Oakland cemetery.
