Henry Wilson Boggs

It is with a sad feeling that I try to writa a short obituary of my dear father, Henry Wilson Boggs, born February 11, 1877, departed this life December 20, 1953, making his stay on earth seventy years, ten months and nine days. He was the son of William and Lottie Boggs.

He was first married to Elmira Mullins, June 22, 1900, who preceded him in death October 1905. To this union were born four children, Merida Boggs, Omaha, Virginia; Vonda Mullins, Omaha, Virginia; Nora Dorton, Pound, Virginia; and Ada Hensley, Dayton, Ohio.

He was married to Sarah Hale Beverly, April 7, 1906, who preceded him in death May 12, 1950. To this union ten children were born: Wiley Boggs, Dayton, Ohio; Hattie Collins, deceased July 1952; Dentist Berry, Wise, Virginia; Woodrow Boggs, Wise, Virginia, Rt. 1; Ralph Boggs, Hughston, West Virginia; Newton Boggs, Wise, Virginia; Clonas Boggs, Dayton, Ohio; Troy Boggs, Dayton, Ohio. He is also survived by three stepchildren, Ferdie S. Beverly, Clintwood, Virignia; Stella Yates, Rt. 2, Coeburn, Virignia; Oakley Beverly, Branton, West Virginia.

He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: James Boggs, Pound, Virginia; Cleveland Boggs, Pound, Virginia; Louemma Cantrell, Baltimore, Maryland. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

In the year 1936, he joined the Regular Baptist and was baptised by Elder Ballard Baker into the fellowship of the Bold Camp Church and his life was a shining light to his children, grandchildren and all who knew him.

When the time would come for him to go to meeting he would walk or go horseback, any way to get to the House of Worship to hear the Gospel, and the doctrine of salvation by grace would feed his soul.

He become afflicted and had to go to the hospital but the doctor could not keep him here. But through all his suffering he was patient and his parting advice to his children was "Not to worry about him for he felt there was nothing in his way." but he wanted them to be good to one another and meet him in that good country, and I feel that when he come tot he crossing he left a world of trouble to join the Blood Washed of our Redeemer where tolls and pain are felt no more nor farewell tears are shed.

I want to say to all the family, "Let his God be your God, and you will see him again."

Written by his daughter in hope of eternal life,
Vonda Mullins
