died Tuesday morning at 10:14 in
Reading Hospital, where he had
been admitted earlier in the day.
He was the husband of Belva
E. (Thomas) Althouse.
Born in Shillington, he was a
son of the late Charles W. and
Suzanna (Ludwig) Althouse.
Althouse had been employed
for 42 years as a maintenance
manager by the Fairy Silk Mill,
Shillington, and last had been
employed for five years as a
machinist by Parish Frame Divi-
sion, Dana Corp., retiring July 1,
1984.
An Army veteran of World War
II, he was a life member of the
Pennwyn Motor Association,
Mohnton Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 9045; Keystone of Shill-
ington and Kenhorst fire compa-
nies, and Reber-Moore American
Legion Post 635, Shillington.
In addition to his wife, he is
survived by two daughters;
Arletta R., wife of James J. West,
Newark, Del., and Joanne M.,
wife of James R. Smoker, Read-
ing.
Also two sons: John C. and
Jody L., both of Shillington, and
four grandchildren.
The Joseph D. Giles Funeral
Home Inc., Mohnton, is in charge
of arrangements.
