We are all travelers in this world, from the sweet grass to the packing house, birth to death, we travel between the eternities.

Rod Castleberry passed away on May 14, 2011 after battling cancer.

Rod was born in Lubbock, Texas on November 22, 1954 to Travis and Velton Castleberry. He grew up in Lubbock where he graduated from Monterey High School.

He made his living in auto body mechanics for many years restoring classic cars and having a passion for the paint and detail stages. He also traveled the country as a Construction Manager laying underground telecommunication cables for several years.

In 2001, Rod and Donna Frazier, also of Lubbock, married and made their home in Luling, Texas.

Rod loved to cook. He especially enjoyed grilling outside which always became the center of attention at more than a few large family gatherings. He was also appointed as head chef for many of his employers' corporate events.

He was a gifted artist. His casual doodles quickly transformed into truthful family portraits or humorous cartoon characters. The pieces of art he has shared with his family and friends will serve as a legacy of his talent and perception. His artistic eye is also evident in the design and décor of the woodwork within his home.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his parents, Travis and Velton Castleberry of Lubbock, Texas; his son, Richard and his children, Travis and Haley; son, Chris, his wife Jennifer and their daughter, Jessica; sister, Debbie Castleberry; nieces and nephews, Kenda, Melissa, KJ, Addison, Aubre, Anissa, Ryan, Braxton, Gracie and Kaylea; and many dear friends including several K-9 and equine buddies.

Rod was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather with strong bonds to family and his faith.

Memorial services will be held in Lockhart State Park in Lockhart, Texas on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
