Dr. Elijah Hanchett, was born in Connecticut in 1776, and began practice in Saratoga County, N. Y., in 1798, where he remained until 1832, when at the solicitation of his brother, Dr. Luther Hanchett, he came to Middlebury. He then practiced in the vicinity of Middlebury until 1836, when he removed to Tallmadge where he died in 1843.
