Revolutionary War Veteran. He was placed on the Honor Roll of Revolutionary War veterans buried at Dodge Cemetery in the Veterans Grave Registration project report issued May 7, 1942. He is the Samuel Hicks recorded on Pg. 826 of Vol. 7 of the Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the Revolutionary War: "Private, Capt. Abraham Batcheller's co., Col. Jonathan Holman's regt.; service, 10 days; company marched to Providence, R.R., on an alarm in Dec., 1776. Roll sworn to in Worcester Co." Capt. Batcheller, who is also interred at Dodge Cemetery, commanded what was also called the East Sutton company which included this area and the later named Wilkinsonville district of Sutton.
