Born in Tippecanoe County, he was a veteran of 30 years in the Army serving in the Spanish-American war and World War I. He retired prior to World War IL.
Surviving are his widow, Minnie Rose (Taggart) Smith; a brother, Charles W. Smith, of Lafayette, and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Lecklitner, of R. 3 The remains are being returned here for burial.
