Mrs Clyde Slump Died at Clarinda:
Mrs Clyde Slump died in her home at Clarinda, Iowa, Monday, May 16, following a brief illness of ptomaine poisoning. Funeral services were held in Hastings M E Church on Wednesday afternoon, May 18, and burial was in Wesley cemetery by the side of her mother.
The services were conducted by Rev C J Soelberg. Music for the services was provided by Mrs F H Priest and Miss Wanda Shaw with Miss Virginia McLain at the piano. The pallbearers were: N W Colling, Semon Cox, R E Poindexter, Geo Schurr, Jr, F H Priest and O A Osmond.
May Pickerill was born in Wheeler's Grove, Ia, March 17, 1889 and died in her home at Clarinda, May 16, 1927, aged 38 years and 2 months. She was united in marriage with Clyde Slump in November 1907. To this union was born seven children, all living, and ranging in ages from 4 to 17 years. She is survived by her husband and children; her father, George Pickerill and sister, Mrs Orpha Bowen of Hastings; brothers, Nello Pickerill of Lincoln; c a Pickerill, Glenwood, and sister, Mrs Addie Querry of Red Oak.
Mrs. Slump had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood. She joined the church at Clarinda when the family moved there three years ago. Just ten years ago her mother was buried in Wesley cemetery. The deceased was praised for her love and devotion to her family and her true neighborliness.
