Alexander Kingsbury McDaniel, Denver mining engineer, died yesterday at Mercy Hosptial after suffering a heart attack Friday. Mr. McDaniel was born on July 18, 1875, at Wilmette, Ill. He was graduated from Colorado School of Mines in 1901. He was a mining engineer for many years and became an official of the mining branch of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation two years ago. He was a member of the Masons and other clubs and professional societies.

Mr. McDaniel lived at 560 Williams St. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julia McDaniel of Denver; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Judd of Cleveland and Laura Anne McDaniel of San Francisco, and three grandchildren.

NOTES:

After graduating from Colorado School of Mines in 1901, he worked as a Mining Engineer with Boston & Montana Cons Copper & Silver Mining Company in Butte Montana from 1901 to 1905. He was Director & General Manager of Copper Queen Cons Mining Company in Idaho from 1905 to1906. He was General Manager of Montana Cons Copper & Silver Miningof Basin in 1906-1907. He was General Manager of Abbontiakoon Block 1Ltd and other companies of Gold Coast Colony, West Africa in 1908-1909, where he redesigned mine and mill equipment and placed the mines on a production basis. When he returned to the states, he became General Manager with the New England and Clifton Copper Company of Clifton Arizona from 1909-1910. He left that to open an office in Denver as a consulting engineer and did work for a number of companies including: American Zinc, Lead and Smelting Co; The American Zinc Coof Illinois; Wisconsin Zinc Co; Black Iron Mine; Oceanic Quicksilver Co of California; Wickenbuarg Lead Company of Arizona and several properties in Mexico. While engaged in consulting work he was also Director and Assistant Manager at the Western Chemical Company of Denver in 1918-1919. For four years he was president of the A.K.McDaniel Company of Maine with offices in Boston Mass. Mining came to a complete standstill in the crash of 1929, and he had no work at all. In 1942 he was appointed supervising engineer with the mining branch of the Reconstruction Finance Corp. He was there until he died in 1944. He is listed in "Who's Who in Engineering". He was a member of American Institute of Mining & Metal Engineers Dir WCMCo in 1920. He was a Shriner and became a member of Denver Country Club and University Clubs.
