Minister Johnny J. Blackmon, 56, of 2508 Albany Lane, Wilson, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at his residence. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the L.N.Forbes Original Free Will Batpist Tabernacle, 1800 Lane Street Ext. Burial will follow in the Rhoda Winstead Cemetery, Elm City.

Memories are forever cherished by his devoted wife, Glenda Blackmon of the home; his children, Christopher Williams, Scott Williams and Starr Speight, all of Wilson; one godson, Douglas Bynum of Cary; 10 grandchildren, Candice Catherine, Diamond, Ebony, and Scottiara Williams, Javasia Pone, Diamond Moody, Lamont Speight II, Anthony and Tysean Speight, all of Wilson; his father, the Rev. Willard Blackmon of Middlesex; six sisters, Mavis Robinson of Wendell, Joyice Williams of Clermont, Fla., Diane Blackmon of Spring Hope, Delaresa Jackson of Newport News, Va., Regina Blackmon of Lorton, Va., and Freda Richardson of Decatur, Ga.; three brothers, William Blackmon of Silver Spring, Md., Wilbert Blackmon of Fort Washington, Md., and James Blackmon of Rocky Mount; his mother-in-law, Catherine Williams of Wilson; one aunt, Minnie Tabron of Baltimore, Md; two uncles, Arthur Arrington and Algie Blackmon, both of Rocky Mount, N.C., and a host of other special relatives and friends.

A viewing will take place Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro Street, W., with the family receiving friends there from 7-8 p.m. and at all other times the family will be receiving friends at the residence, where they will assemble one hour prior to the service.
