Robert Eugene Taylor passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at the Saint Charles Hospital in Bend, Oregon. He was 85. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, step-daughter, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Ronald Eudene Taylor [FAG # 8034482].
Robert (Bob) Taylor was born in Harrison, Arkansas on June 12, 1925 to Oralee and James Taylor. In 1938 the family moved to Sunshine Valley, Oregon where they farmed. He married C.E.G. in 1946. They had two sons, but were later divorced in 1980.
Bob was a developer in the Gresham area and was one of the first developers in the state to use what is known as "common green space" for his housing developments. He also helped build and was part owner of The Gresham Court Club which later became Cascade Court Club.
In the early 1980's Bob worked with the State of Oregon to turn land he owned near the confluence of the Eagle Creek and Clackamas River into what is now known as Bonnie Lure State Park so that all Oregonians could enjoy and recreate in this beautiful area.
Bob married D.S.C. in 1989. In 1999 he and his wife moved from the Gresham area to a ranch he built in Sisters, where they have resided for the past twelve years.
Memorial Services will be held at the Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 1:30pm.
