Bob had prior service in the USAF when he entered Aviation Cadet Navigator Training in February 1957. He was in our pre-flight Class 58-08C, at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas.

While in Navigator flying training at Harlingen AFB, Texas, Bob washed back into a later class. At Harlingen Bob flew training missions in the T-29C ‘Flying Classroom'.

Bob graduated in the summer of 1958 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and received his Navigator Wings.

Bob then went to Keesler AFB, Mississippi for Electronic Counter Measures school.

Bob was then assigned to Forbes AFB, Topeka, Kansas where he flew ELINT as an EWO in the RB-47H with the 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing. Later he was assigned as a Defensive Systems Officer in B-58s with the 305th Bombardment Wing at Bunker Hill, AFB and the 43rd Bombardment Wing at Carswell AFB, Fort Worth, Texas.

In May 1972, he was assigned to Barksdale AFB, LA. During Linebacker I, he went TDY to Guam and Utapao, Thailand where he flew the missions as a B-52 EWO.

On October 12, 1972, he graduated with Wild Weasel Class 73-CWW from the 4525th FWW at Nellis AFB, NV. He then attended Water Survival School at Homestead AFB, FL and Jungle Survival School at Clark AB, Phillipines. He then went to the 17th Wild Weasel Squadron, 388th TFW, at Korat, Thailand.

On December 18, 1972, the first night of Linebacker II, Captain Donald D. Henry and EWO Major Robert A. Webb flew a mission this night for which they received the Silver Star for Gallantry in Action. On December 19, 1972, the second night of Linebacker II, they received the Distinguished Flying Cross for Heroism. And on December 20, 1972, the third night of Linebacker II, they received the Air Medal for Aeronautical Achievement.

Bob was married to Lee B.

In early 1974, Bob was again stationed at Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base in Thailand where he was a 'Bear' in the back seat of the F-105G, Wild Weasel. He was assigned to the 561st Tactical Fighter Squadron which was TDY from George Air Force Base, Victorville, California. Bob was still at George AFB in December 1976.
