Hattie Schoulte Dies at 100

Mrs. Hattie Schoulte, 100, a resident of the Guttenberg Care Center for the past six years and formerly of Garnavillo, died Monday morning, Aug. 29, 1983, at the care center.

Services were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garnavillo and are to be conducted by Monsignor Ernest Ament. Burial will be in the church cemetery with the following pallbearers: Kenneth Berns, Leon Kann, Francis Eglseder, Francis Schoulte, Gerald Hoeger and Mark DeSotel. Honorary pallbearers are Alvina Schmelzer, Evelyn Lynch, Regina Burr, Clara Berns, Lulu Leitgen and Katie Rolfes.

Visitation was at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Schoulte was a daughter of Herman and Anna Matt Berns and was born at National on Dec. 8, 1882. She was married Oct. 8, 1902 at Garnavillo to Henry Schoulte, who preceded her in death on June 26, 1952.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ronilla Connor of Monona, Mrs. Clarence (Rita) Kann of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Merlin (Anna) Rutledge of Genoa, Wis., and one son, Lloyd of Garnavillo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Veronica Hoeger of Garnavillo. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Kann.
