James "Jim" Eugene Weddington, 76, of Concord, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011.

Mr. Weddington was born August 5, 1934, in Cabarrus County.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Blume Weddington; mother, Zenobia Bell Barnhardt Weddington; and brothers, Joe and Frank Weddington.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of Cold Springs Methodist Church. He loved his family and was much loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, family, friends, and his chihauhua dog, "Molly." He retired from General Tire and was an avid fisherman. He will be missed dearly.

The funeral will be 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Cold Springs Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Mary Hatley and Dr. Neil Haynes. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the burial. At other times, the family will meet at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Raymelle Love Weddington, of the home; sons, James Eugene Weddington, Jr., of Concord, Steven Craig Weddington of Lancaster, S. C., and Jerry Lynn Weddington and wife, Tracy, of Fort Mill, S. C.; and grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, Travis, Steven, Kayla, and Sara.

Memorials may be made to Cold Springs Building Fund, 2550 Cold Springs Road, Concord, NC 28025.
