Preservationist. She was chairman of the Jamestown Committee of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities for 30 years, from 1930 to 1960. She worked tirelessly her entire adult life for the preservation of Jamestown Island, often acting as superintendent and hostess. The high point of her administration was the Virginia 300th Anniversary celebration in 1957, which was attended by Queen Elizabeth II.
