JAMES P. BOYD
James Perry Boyd, 94, a former speaker of the Missouri House, died of a heart attack Sunday at his home in Paris, Mo.
Mr. Boyd, who retired from his law practice two years ago, was admitted to the bar in 1897. He studied at home by reading law books while teaching in Monroe County schools. He served four terms as Monroe County prosecutor, was a representative in the Legislature three terms, and also was general counselor for the Missouri Public Service commission. He was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State college, Kirksville.
He was a former grand master of the Odd Fellows and was a Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Susan Dixie Rigg Boyd of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Eunice Dawson, Paris; a foster daughter, Mrs. Lucille Steinmiller, Chicago, four grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday at the Agnew chapel, Paris; burial in the Walnut Grove cemetery, Paris.
