A graduate of El Camino High School, Lizz attended local colleges and played fast pitch softball throughout the US and in Canada. She was named All-American Pitcher in 1976 after defeating the defending national champions. After working in the printing industry, she became a Community Forester for the Sacramento Tree Foundation, planting trees throughout the region with at-risk youth and other community groups. Lizz was an avid square dancer, attending gay square dance events with her many friends in Northern California and around the country. Her genuine love of people and joy in life touched everyone she met.
Lizz was preceded in death by her father Arthur R. Bippus. Survived by her beloved mother, Dorothy J. Bippus, of Carmichael; her brother Rickie R. Bippus (Tricia) and nephew Alex Bippus, of Lodi, CA. Also survived by her loving partner of 15 years, Karen T. Schmidt of Carmichael.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, June 4 at 11 am at the Central United Methodist Church Social Hall, 5265 H Street (at 53rd Street) Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Sacramento Tree Foundation, Lizz Bippus Project, 191 Lathrop Way, Suite D, Sacramento, CA 95815.
