Roy H. Aaron, attorney, arbitrator, business executive, and former Los Angeles County Bar Association president and UCLA Foundation Chair Emeritus, died from complications of cancer on April 25, 2011 at age eighty-two.

Aaron attended UCLA and then UC Berkeley, where he earned a B.A. in political science in 1951. Following service in the U.S. Air Force, he received his law degree from USC, graduating with honors in 1956.

He was a life fellow of the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. In 1982-1983, he served as president of the Los Angeles County Bar Association which, in 1996, awarded him its prestigious Shattuck-Price Award.

He was a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Pacht, Ross, Warne, Bernhard and Sears. After twenty-two years as a practicing attorney, he became a business executive serving in senior positions. He was president and COO of the Plitt Theater Companies; president and CEO of Showscan Entertainment, Inc.; and chairman and CEO of Intra-Asia Entertainment Corporation. He also served on the boards of various other corporations and charities.

He was a longtime and dedicated supporter of UCLA. He chaired the UCLA Foundation from 1998-2000 and continued to be an active participant in its philanthropic endeavors.

In 1993, Aaron returned to law as a mediator and arbitrator. He also advised businesses in organization, governance and strategic planning. At the time of his death, he was vice chairman of the investment banking firm of Janas Associates and of Janas Consulting in Pasadena.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Carpenter Aaron, daughter, Jill T. Aaron, and sister Joan Aaron Fish. His first wife, Theresa (Teri) Aaron, died in 2003.

A celebration of his life will take place on May 23, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the Billy Wilder Theater at the Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA.
