Marjorie H. Luke died July 26, 1998 at the age of 92 in San Diego, CA. Marjorie was born August 26, 1905 in Holladay, Utah. She married Orral S. Luke on May 19, 1931 in Rigby, Idaho. They moved with their family to Bakersfield in 1945 and lived there until 1967. They moved to Hawaii in 1967 to fulfill a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marjorie was a graduate of Fresno State University. She taught for the Fruitvale School District for twenty-one years. The last 16 years she helped establish the school library and served as librarian.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Orral S. Luke. She is survived by her daughter Joan Luke who she lived with in San Diego for the last seven years, a daughter Marcia and her husband Dr. Steve D. Merta from Lake Isabella, a son Dr. Larry S. Luke and his wife Barbara from Simi Valley, a brother Murray Harper from Twin Falls, Idaho, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Marjorie has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 1, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at the East Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 5600 Panorama Drive. A private family burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Mortuary in Bakersfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Red Cross.
