IN MEMORIAM

FROM ST. JOHN'S MESSENGER JANUARY 1909 (ST. JOHN'S EVANGEL CHURCH LOUISVILLE, KY)

One of the oldest and best known German residents of the county passed out of this life when on December 15 Mr. John YOUNG breathed his last. He lived in the immediate neghborhhod of our city for more than sixty years, a good part of which was spent on his farm in Watterson's Lane beyond Buechel on the Bardstown Road. Mr. Young was born in Maifelde on the Rhine in Germany, but came to America in his boyhood. In 1860 he was married to Miss Agnes Schneider, who with six sons and one daughter survive him. Mr. Young bore the reputation of an honest and sincere man and leaves his children a name of which they need never be ashamed. His age was seventy-seven years and the cause of his death was Bright's Disease. The spacious house was filled to overflowing when on December 17 the words of Christian faith and hope were spoken at his coffin. The body was laid to rest in St. Louis Cemetery.
