John H. Gage was a machinist and manufacturer of machinists' tools, whose shop in Nashua is thought to be the first in the nation entirely devoted to their manufacture. He subsequently formed a partnership with David A. G. Warner and George H. Whitney. Their factory became one of the largest suppliers in the United States, and their tools known around the world.
