Martin V Kite Jr. was the son of Martin V Kite 1804 – 1880 and Susannah A Kite 1808 – 1880. His siblings were: Archibald Kite 1829 – 1880; Henderson Kite 1831 – 1873; Reuben Kite 1833 – 1863; Elizabeth Kite 1837 – 1860; Sarah Kite 1840 – 1860; Lucinda Kite 1842 – 1917; Peter Kite 1843 – 1912 and William A Kite 1847 – 1860.

On Nov. 24, 1853 Martin married Patsy Smith. From this union the two children were born: Sarah Jane Kite 1857 and Jacob J Kite 1859.

In 1959 Patsy passed away leaving two leaving Martin with two little babies to care for. The 1860 census revealed that Martin had remarried. He and his new wife, Martha (no maiden name) were living in Rural Persia, Hawkins, Tennessee, and had $200.00 value in real estate, and $150.00 of personal property.

In 1870 Martin and Martha were still living in Persia and had added 3 children to the household. They were: Lucinda Kite 1862; David Sylvester Kite 1865 – 1945 and Thomas Kite 1868.

In August of 1872 Martin's life was cut short at the age of 35. Their are no records that reveal the cause of his untimely death. Martha selected a burial plot for him in th Kite Cemetery, and gathered her family and friends around her as she bid her beloved Martin to "Rest in Peace" (bio by Audrey DeCamp Hoffman)
