ABBEVILLE. . .Ann Koeppel Adams, a resident of Abbeville, died Saturday morning, May 14, 2011. She was 86.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P. M. Monday, May 16, 2011, in the Texasville Cemetery with John S. Riley and Reverend Steven Gregg officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 P. M. Monday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abbeville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 100, Abbeville, AL. 36310 or to the Texasville United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Anne Adams, 3782 State Highway 131, Clayton, AL. 36016.

Mrs. Adams was born and reared in Tuscaloosa, daughter of the late William Anton Koeppel and Julia Johnson Koeppel. She was a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and attended the University of Alabama and Troy University. Mrs. Adams moved to Abbeville in 1949. In earlier years, she co-owned and managed, with her husband, the family peanut mill and cotton warehouse in Abbeville. Mrs. Adams was an active member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church and its U.M.W. She was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, the Matrons Club, the Abbeville Garden Club and various other activities in the community.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Forrest Lamar Adams, a son, Samuel Lamar Adams, a sister, Carolyn McCann and a brother, William E. Koeppel.

Surviving relatives include two daughters and their husbands, a daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.
