SHELLEY, Oct. 25 - Howard E. Johnson, 70, retired railroad man and farmer of Basalt, died Thursday morning at an Ashton hospital. He had been in ill health for some time and was operated on about 10 days ago.

He was born Jan. 10, 1886 at Alpine, Utah, the son of Daniel C. and Jane N. Johnson. He came with the family to the Basalt area when he was 12 years of age.

On Feb. 8, 1905 he married Hilma Ingelstrom at Logan, Utah.

Besides the widow, he is survived by a son, Howard H. Johnson, Arimo; a daughter, Mrs. Inez Paskett, Ashton; a sister, Mrs. Sidney Pasket, Wells, Nev.; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

While working on the railroad he had lived in Pocatello for 15 years.
