Mary Louise Abbott was born about 1879, the daughter of Thomas Tillman Pendley and Martha Hall. She was known to her family as "Lula".

Mary's first husband was Jim Hall. Three children were born into this union ended by divorce: Pauline, Georgia and Eugene (Gene). Mary then married husband #2: Mr. Abott.
