Peggy Jean Stuart, 82, of Arkansas City went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2011 at the South Central Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City, Kansas. Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 14th at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home in Arkansas City, Kansas. A memorial has been established with the Trinity Baptist Church in Arkansas City, Kansas. Contributions can be left with the funeral home.
Peggy was born on November 12, 1928 the daughter of Alvin Elwood and "Minnie" Osia Sabina Caroline (Lewis) Dickson in Arkansas City, Kansas. She was united in marriage with William Riley Stuart on June 4, 1946 in Tucson, Arizona. Peggy was a homemaker and a janitor for many years for USD #470 before retiring. Peggy enjoyed bingo, playing cards. She loved garage sales and her collection of pigs and geese. Peggy dearly loved her daughter as well as all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Peggy is survived by her daughter Carolyn Burns and husband Larry of Eufalua, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Mike Osteen of Bethany, Oklahoma, Linda Watters and husband Brian of Stewartsville, Minnesota, Jeremy Osteen and wife Christi of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sister, Sue Shelton and husband Lloyd of Winfield, Kansas, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, son in infancy and numerous brothers and sisters.
