Lonnie J. Carroll departed this life to be with the Lord on April 30, 2002. He was born in rural Collin County, Texas on March 5, 1930.


He is preceded in death by his first wife, Billie J. Howell Carroll, and his parents, Milton Leslie and Mattie Lou Horton Carroll.


He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Arey Carroll; his daughter, Jeanne C. Gallia, and granddaughter, Pamela J. Clesi of Wallis, Texas; his brother, Jack L. Carroll and his wife, Bobbie, of Sherman, Texas; his sister, Nancy C. Chastain and her husband, Virgil, of McKinney, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.


Lonnie was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for 22 years. He graduated from Anna High School, Anna, Texas. His long career in the construction business began in the early 1950's at Farnsworth & Chambers. He later worked for and eventually bought B&S Construction Company, and in the late 1970's established his own company, LC&I. He was a Director and Life Member of the Associated General Contractors of Texas. In 1975, he served as President of the Houston Contractor's Association and was an Honorary Life Member. He was also an avid pilot, holding a license for over 30 years. After his retirement in 1998, he was very active as one of three coordinators for the St. John Vianney food pantry.


A funeral mass will be conducted at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, Texas, at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 3, 2002, with Rev. John N. Morfin officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Hospice at the Texas Medical Center, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030, or the charity of your choice.
