John is the son of Adam Walrath. He married Harriet C. Whistler about 1865, probably in Sparta, Monroe, WI. They had one son, Herbert H., born about 1867 in Wisconsin. John, Hattie, and Herbert, were found in Kankakee, IL in 1870 where he worked in a foundry. They are next found in Lewis & Clark County, MT in 1900-1910 where he was a rancher. His death certificate lists his occupation as furrier in U.S.
