He was born August 13, 1879, in Denmark and came to this country as a young man. On November 2, 1898, he was married to Ada Griff, and the home was made in the Kaneland area where they farmed. Mrs. Johnson passed away in 1959.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Viola Wall, Sycamore, Mrs. Gladys Scalet, Melrose Park, Mrs. Alice Manning, Rockford, Mrs. Beatrice Lake, Maple Park, and Mrs. Neoma Caldwell, Wisconsin; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Schmidt, Savannah, Ga., Mrs. Christine Anderson, Geneva, and Mrs. Sophie Deyereaux, Geneva; one brother, George, of Maple Park; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Four sons predeceased him.
