His death being the result of complications associated with leukemia. A Memorial service followed by an interment at Fairview Cemetery will be held for Wayne in the spring.
Wayne was born on December 6, 1934, in Weidman, the eldest son of Donald and Birdie (Powell) Abbott. In 1952, he graduated from the Weidman High School. He held several jobs as a young man including working at General Motor's, Elmore's Furniture, and Greenwald Construction, before becoming an employee at the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center for Developmental Disabilities, retiring in 1988 after 33 years of service.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Linda Abbott; five children, Rick (HyeKyung), Stuart, Tim, Leanne, and Bo (Jean); three step-sons, David (Tonya), Jeff (Paula), and Tom (Trecia); 28 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren' Brother, Mick (Carol); sister, Phyllis (Dan); and five nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, two nieces, and a nephew.
Wayne will best be remembered by his family and friends for his particular keen insights into life, his ability to lead by example, unceasing wit and humor, and his extra large set of "wings", which he used to gently love and shelter his family.
