She was born in Monroe County, TN daughter of Joseph Jackson Knox and Harriet Dennis. The parents are buried in Campground Cemetery in Overton County, TN
Harriet G Dennis's father changed his name from Tennison to Dennis before Harriet was born it appears. According to the Tennison's no one knows why. But John Dennis's sons used the surname Dennis as well. Harriet has a large family in Overton County. I don't have Sure Dennis Green's books but two of my cousins do so all I have are copies of some pages including the one you quoted about Indian claims.
