Harriet G Dennis's father changed his name from Tennison to Dennis before Harriet was born it appears. According to the Tennison's no one knows why. But John Dennis's sons used the surname Dennis as well. Harriet has a large family in Overton County. I don't have Sure Dennis Green's books but two of my cousins do so all I have are copies of some pages including the one you quoted about Indian claims.

I have documentation in 1909 for Mrs. FM Satterwhite. The daughter of Harriote Gregory Dennis Knox filed an application for Indian land in Overton County, TN. She listed her sister as Mrs. "FM" Satterwhite. They cited John Dennis the Cherokee of Caswell County, NC. The claim was denied.
