William Tecumseh Rooney, son of Patrick and Rosanna Rooney, was born October 1, 1865, at Leavenworth, Kan., and departed this life August 6, 1952, at Haddam, Kan., at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 5 days.
When he was three years old, he moved with his family to Brown County, Kansas, where he grew to young manhood. He attended the public schools of Brown County, and spent the years 1881 and 1882 at St. Benedict's College, Atchison.
In 1896 he moved to Haddam, where he engaged in the Hardware and later had the Ford Agency, but his principal interest always was farming.

In 1903 he married Otilla Pelesky and to them were born 10 children, Mrs. Edgar A. Sherman, San Francisco, Cal.; Mrs. James J. Cahill, Phoenix, Ariz.; Miss Mary M. Rooney, San Francisco, Cal.; William T. Rooney, jr., Deerfield, Kan.; Mrs. William Bledsoe, Hugo, Colo.; George A. Rooney, Belleville; Harry E. Rooney who died in 1943; Commander Paul C. Rooney, USS, Norton Sound, Cal.; Frederick who died in 1917; and Mrs. Donald B. Simpson, Cheyenne Wells, Colo.
Besides his wife and eight children, his immediate survivors are 13 grandchildren, a brother, George B. Rooney of Dodge City, Kan., and a sister, Mrs. H. E. Miebach of Los Angeles, Cal.
Services were held Friday at the Rooney residence in Haddam, conducted by the Very Rev. Msgr. C. J. Brown. Burial was in Haddam cemetery.
