Lucille Ethel Luethje, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. Lucille was born August 17, 1920 on the family farm southwest of Utica in York County, Nebraska, the second of six children of Robert "Ralph" and Lulu (Roden) Pollock.

Lucille received her primary education from a country school southwest of Utica and then graduated from Utica High School with the class of 1938. She then pursued higher education at the National Business Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska. Lucille was then employed as a secretary at the Capital building for the State of Nebraska.

On September 26, 1943 she was united in marriage to Wayne Leroy Luethje of Waco, Nebraska and to this union four children were born: Vinnetta, Jolene, Beverly, and Duane. The couple made their home in Utica, where they owned and operated a café for five years. In the years to come, Wayne managed CO-OP Elevators and the couple made their home in Cordova, Benedict and Bertrand. During this time, Lucille was a Postal Clerk in Benedict and Bertrand and later became the Postmaster for the United States Postal Service at Bertrand. After their retirement, Lucille and Wayne enjoyed spending eleven winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, where they made many friendship bonds. She always looked forward to family gatherings, was a great cook and loved spending time with her grandchildren. On November 12, 1998 she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne.

Lucille was a 60 year member of the Utica Chapter #199 of the Order of Eastern Star, and a 45 year member of the Utica American Legion Post #49 Auxiliary.

Lucille is survived by: daughters: Vinnetta Fahrenbruch and her husband, Doug of Bertrand, and Jolene Friesen and her husband, Lyle of Henderson, Nebraska; son, Duane Luethje and his wife, Jayne of Bertrand; grandchildren: Michael Fahrenbruch and his special friend, Kim Broz of Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Tonya Eichelberger and her husband, Logan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Shelly Amuck and her husband, Jason of Henderson, Lindy Haring and her husband, Richard of Lincoln, and Lori Romano and her husband, Steven of Lincoln; great-grandchildren: Forrest, Madison, Carson, Alexis, Thorn, Odin and Cadence; brothers: Louis Pollock and Robert Pollock and his wife, LaRue all of Utica; sister-in-law, Luella Pollock of Utica; and a host of relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Beverly; infant grandsons: Travis Friesen and Bradley Luethje; brothers: Harold, Marvin and Norman Pollock; and sisters-in-law: Irene Pollock and Lorene Pollock.
