Frank Labit enlisted 16 April 1861 in Houma, LA as Surville L'Habit in Co. E, First Specialist Battalion Louisiana Infantry (Maj. N. H. Rightor's Batt.) CSA. He was detached as a guard in Williamsburg, VA by order of Col. Ewell, Post Commander's Office. The battalion was disbanded on 11 May 1862. Frank & Nellie received an Oklahoma Civil War veteran's pension. Payments did not exceed $10 a month. Frank removed from Houma, LA after the war to Houston Co., TX & owned & operated a 500 acre farm near Lovelady. He was one of the first merchants in Eldorado, Greer Co., Oklahoma Territory arriving there ca 1890. He owned & operated a livery stable, called "Labit & Sons", later owned a furniture store. He was a charter member of the Eldorado AF & AM & at one time held the office of city marshall. They removed from Eldorado, Greer Co., Oklahoma, to Waldport, Lincoln Co., Oregon in 1915 by train.
