Honoring his 78th anniversary, a large number of kinsmen and friends assembled Sunday at the home of Mr. R.S. McLendon in Mt. Vernon for a birthday dinne and family reunion. .....

Among the very active guests was the only sister - Mrs. Mary P. McLendon Coursey, of Savannah, Lyons and Baxley. States in a family characteristics manner, when she is not at one place , she is at another. Including chiefly nieces and nephews, the guests from a distance included: Mrs. C.H. Harden, W.P. Coursey and family, Mr. & mrs. Robert Gray, Misses Annie Belle and Bessie Coursey of Lyons; Mr. & Mrs. B.C. Coursey, Mrs. H.P. Roberson, Mrs. H.M. Sellers, Miss Henrietta Sellers, Mr. Buck Sellers, Miss Jane Sellers, Miss Hazel Coursey, Larry Coursey, Al Lamb and Nig Lamb, of Baxley; Pfc. J.B. Coursey, U.S. Marine Corps, Camp Le June, N.C.; Mr. & Mrs. D.I. Coursey, Mr. & Mrs. C.L. Coursey, J.B. Coursey, Dwight Sellers, Vernon Coursey and Miss Betty Burnsed, of Savannah; Mr. & Mrs. Roamie McLendon and Mr. & Mrs. Luke Smith and fmaily of Clinton, S.C.; Mrs. John McLendon and children of Mt. Vernon; Mr. & Mrs. I.J. Jackson and family and Mr. & Mrs. Roy McLendon of Lyons. The oldest member of friends present was Mr. James W. Adams, 90 years of age, but still retaining a fondness for mingling with friends.

Mr. & Mrs. Wade Jackson, members of he household, were the chief host and hostess; however they were assisted by other members of the family...
