Thelma Gladys Powell, 82, of Adolphus, KY died at 2:20 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at her residence. The Adolphus, KY native was a homemaker, former teacher at Halfway School, former employee of GMAC in Louisville and Scotscraft, retired assistant for the Allen County Extension Office in food education and member of Scottsville Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Lester Jerry Hinton and Annie Alene Sarver Hinton and wife of the late Baxter R. Powell, Jr.
She is survived by 1 daughter: Julia Ann Thomas and husband, Mike, Scottsville, KY;
3 grandchildren: Matt Powell and wife, Valarie; Colton Thomas and Michala Thomas;
2 great grandchildren: Annie Beth Powell and Owen Powell and
1 first cousin: Don Sarver, Scottsville, KY.
She was preceded in death by 1 son: Alan Powell and 1 daughter: Linda Powell.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Goad Funeral Home with Ken Goforth officiating and burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the charity of your choice.
