Immigrated to Texas in 1851 with his parents and siblings and settled on the Verde Creek in Kerr County. He was a master stone mason.
He married Augusta Hasser 17 Dec 1853 in Bexar County, Texas. In 1860 they were living in Camp Verde with their 2 daughters: Auguste (4) and Louise (2) near his parents and brothers. Their third daughter, Emma was born in 1862.

His widow remarried c.1863 to Dr. George Zimmerman, a widower with small children (His first wife was Wilhelmina). In 1870 Frederick's widow and her 2nd husband are living in Bastrop, Texas. She and George had 4 known children: Fred George, John Louis, Frank and Charlie. (She named her first son after both of her husbands).

Fritz Lange is honored as one of those who died at the Rio Grande but his name is not on the Treue der Union monument. His involvement was not verified until many years after his death and consequently his name never appeared on the original monument.

He survived the Nueces River Battle, but drowned or was killed by Confederate gunfire while trying to cross the Rio Grande October 18, 1862.
