Services for Minnie "Scottie" Johnson , 82, of Orange County will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Church of Christ. Philip Baker will officiate. Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at a hospice center in Orange County.
Minnie Ora Wainscott was the daughter of William Nathan Wainscott and Stella (Martin) Wainscott. Minnie preferred to go “Scottie” instead of Minnie. She was born near Pauls Valley in Garvin County, Oklahoma. After her mother and father passed, Scottie and her sister Bernice moved to Wichita, Kansas to stay with her aunt Etta (Wainscott) Johnson. The two sisters worked at a hotel ran by the Johnson family. When the sisters became old enough they left the hotel.
Scottie later married Jack Johnson. The couple lived in California and adopted two children, Danny and Regina.
Scottie loved to paint. She painted nature scenes, mostly mountains and streams. She was a cook for Prairie and Pacheco Elementary Schools and loved interacting with the children. Scottie was a member of Anderson Church of Christ. She and Jack spent a great deal of time outdoors, fishing mostly. She would visit her sister in Oklahoma City once a year and wanted a Steak Sandwich Supreme from Del Rancho every day of her visit.
