Brian Paul Gowen, age 68, died suddenly on Monday, February 22 in his home at Boothbay Harbor.
He was educated in Somerville schools.
He served in the Army Medical Corp during World War I.
After World War I, he worked for the Boston Recorder for 43 years. He was a caption writer for the Boston Recorder and American Sunday Advertiser. He was considered an expert in his field.
He was a frequent visitor in the Region and made Boothbay Harbor his year-round home following his retirement in 1963.
He was a member of Charles E. Sherman Jr. Post; American Legion in Boothbay Harbor.
Interment in Union Cemetery at Southport.
