We have a Death Certificate confirming who was who in her ancestors, but please understand that with her parents having been former slaves, the "surname" used for these folks varied depending on which slave owner had them at the time, so descendants researching their family lines prior to emancipation need to be flexible about what surnames the records are found under, spellings, etc.

Once established in this area, many people kept the surname Dicus and it doesn't necessarily denote the same family (DNA) lines.
