Virgil Leon Rufi Dies in Evanston

EVANSTON (Special)—Virgil Leon Rufi, 61, Evanston, was dead on arrival at an Evanston hospital June 30 of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 10, 1911 at Salt Lake City, the son of Jacob and Lottie Graham Rufi. He married Ella Whittaker Sept. 15, 1933 at Randolph, Utah.

Mr. Rufi was a member of the LDS Church and was a carman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of Cheyenne, past President of the Evanston Eagles Lodge, a member of the UP Old Timers Club No. 20 and a retired member of the Evanston Fired Dept.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dr. Gene Rufi of San Jose, Calif., Barry of Midvale, Utah, and Larry of Granger, Utah; one daughter, Mrs. Bud (Marilyn) Meeks of Reliance; his mother of Woodruff, Utah; two brothers, Harvey of Evanston and Bill of Woodruff; three sisters, Mrs. Howard (Evelyn) Haines of Tooele, Utah, Mrs. T.N. (Margaret) Gregg of Salt Lake City and Mrs. R.L. (Beth) Telford of Montpelier, Idaho; and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Gilbert Bills Funeral Home. Burial was in the Evanston City Cemetery.
