Harold G. Bly 1916-2011
OTTAWA — Harold G. Bly, 95, of Ottawa, died April 20 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Oakwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Polly Klimson officiating. Full military rites will be conducted. Arrangements are through Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Harold was born March 17, 1916, in Schuyler County, to John and Lela (Payne) Bly. He moved to Ottawa in 1954 and worked for Libbey-Owens-Ford until 1981.
He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II, serving in Pearl Harbor as a Navy Seabee. He married Reba Hillyer on Nov. 14, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. Harold was a member of First United Methodist Church, Glassworkers Local 19, Carpenters Local 95, American Legion Post 33, Ottawa VFW and the Occidental Lodge 40 AF and AM.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Janice) Bly of Waukegan; two grandsons, Peter and Aaron Bly; and one sister, Esther Chockley of Camden, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba.
