COLERAIN - Carroll Glenn "Skip" Brown Jr., 59, of the 1200 block of Meadow Road, died April 11, 2002, in his home.
Mr. Brown was born in Bertie County and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Brown graduated from Mars Hill High School and attended Frederick Military Academy in Portsmouth, and served in the N.C. National Guard. He was a retired farmer and shipping supervisor for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., and served with the Farmer Service Agency County Committee from Jan. 1, 1998, until the present. "Skip" served as physical director for the Boys Clubs of America for six years. He was a member of Trap Volunteer Fire Department and the Long Branch Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Taylor Brown; a daughter, Dee Worrells and her husband, Roy, of Harrellsville, N.C.; a son, Bradley Carroll Brown and his wife, Penny, of Colerain; two sisters, Amy Smith of Morehead, N.C., Arleen Sabiston of Beaufort, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Hannah Worrells of Harrellsville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Mars Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Burke Holland. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to University Health Care Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, NC 27910, Trap Volunteer Fire Department, 1404 Meadow Road, Colerain, NC 27924 or to Colerain Rescue Squad, Colerain, NC 27924. The family will receive friends at the home. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is serving the Brown family.
